At about age 8, Joan Carroll changed her last name from Felt to Carol because she said it sounded musical. As you can see on the two autographed pictures here, she has spelled her name two different ways, once as Joan Carol and once as Joan Carroll.
The photo on the Left promotes Joan Carroll's role in the 1944 movie Tomorrow, The World.
The promotional information for the photo on the Right says: "A camera tripod makes a good stool for little Joan Carol. The new child screen sensation is appearing in a featured role for the first time in 20th Century Foxes One Mile From Heaven." This was her first movie in 1937.
Obliging Young Lady was filmed in 1942, and as as you can see on the poster Joan had a featured role. In 1944 she starred with Judy Garland in Meet Me In St. Louis. In all she made 17 movies. Her last one was Second Chance at age 18 in 1950.
