Joan Marie Lawes made just one movie, Up The River in 1930. It starred Spencer Tracy, Claire Luce and Humphry Bogard and told the story of two criminal inmates who tried to put their former lives behind them. Interestingly, Joan's father in real life was the Warden at Sing Sing Prison.

Joan is shown here with Tommy Clifford who made two movies in 1930, but they did not make a movie together. I assume these are publicity photos for Joan Lawes as they are coded JML in the lower Right corner.
